Ignition key cylinder swap

OK first off will an 85 ignition key cylinder fit into an 83? I know the dash changes but wasnt sure about that kind of stuff too. I would assume not, but with all the experts so to speak around here I figured I would ask. I called my local dealership and they said that my VIN didnt come up with a key code match (also said that their parts book only goes back to 86). SOOO how hard is this and should I worry about anything in particular? I didnt do a search so sorry if repost. I am also assuming that this isnt done too often and figured it was pointless to do a search.

Also how hard would it be to swap out door locks and hatch lock? This way i only have to mess with one key like it was supposed to be, instead of 2.

Any/all help appreciated. Thanks

Ian

Yes a '83 locks will work on your '85.

My guide show me that '83 thru '87 Rx-7 used the same key blanks.
