ignition coils

my trailing ignition coil has gone the way of the buffalo.

i was wondering what i should do about it: replace it with an OE part, or replace it w/ a performance part. i was thinking that replacing it w/ performance would require me to replace both of 'em.

any suggestions as to my decision? and based on your suggestion, which brand/model coil would you suggest for replacement?

thanks,
cpt

You have several options.

1.) Used stock parts - Goto the scrapper and get yourself a coil for cheap. Unknown condition.

2.) New Stock parts - Pay out the *** for a new part that acts like it did before.

3.) MSD ignition - Buy a red box for $120-$150, hack up your electrical systems, and you still get to go find two coils for a setup that has currently debated effectiveness.

4.) DLIDFS - Dual Leading Ignitor Direct Fire System (or whatever) Get another ignitor from the scrapper (hell, get a handfull), hack up your electrical system get two performance coils to complete a modification that increases both gas milage and power and decreases emissions (not that anyone cares about that )

You wouldn't need to replace both of them with performance parts.

What you could do is put the old good Leading coil on the Trailing circuit and get two new or good used coils for Leading. I think it would be a good idea if they both matched, but it's debatable I suppose. Just make sure that if you get aftermarket coils, check that the resistance is at least close to stock. You don't want to burn up an ignitor or two.

I have a good stocker leading coil if you want it. I don't need it.

you don't HAVE to replace both.
you can get a MSD blaster II coil like I've got for like 25 - 30$, put that in leading, then put the good coil on trailing.

simple, cheap, effective :p
