Ignition and Carb

I've been reading various ignition and carb posts, but I can't seem to figure out what actually works the best. I am totally rebuilding a 82 gsl-se this winter, and I'd like to redo the ignition and intake for a little more power. I want to take the do it yourself approach, and not spend $1000 on negligable improvements.

Has 2GCDFIS surpassed DILFLIS or whatever it is for ignition quality?

What carb setup is good for sharp throttle reponse and torque without sacrificing fuel mileage and street driveability?

I think there needs to be some sort of summary of some of these discussions.

well, first off. i will say WELCOME to the forum and then i am going to point you to the top right of this screen..... the "search" button. this has been covered waaaaayyyyy too many times. every different carb can please all sorts of people. i like holleys and nikki's. most people hate them. alot of people love side drafts, or down drafts. there is no ONE carb that just ROX. please do more research. all these posts become are battles. read threads about people who are having problems with their carbs. see how they fixed it. you will then learn a little about what it takes to tune that particular carb. good luck
