Check your return spring.

all of a sudden i have to pull gas pedal up to make it drop from 1500 to 800

where is spring?

 

check the dash pot.

 

could need some lube on your linkage, maybe the throttle cable, too... definitely check the return spring, though.. sounds like it might not be taking it all the way back down.

is it really easy to push down your gas pedal? if so, you may need to completely replace the spring.
