Unhappy Idle issue question

So last fall I got my 85 GS running again mostly due to information gleaned from this board. During the snowy winter I would go out and start her up every couple of weeks and drive her around a bit to keep the fluids where they belong etc. I skipped a couple of warm ups because it was just too damn cold to deal with.

Anyway the city finally decided to cut down the neighbor's dead birch tree since the thing kept playing lawn darts with my other neighbor's and my own cars and yards every time the wind would blow. Around here the wind blows a lot, and hard.

Anyway I had to move Yozakura (the 85 GS) out of the way, but they chose to take care of this on a day when I had to dig her out of the snow up to the windows. She started really sluggish and took a long time to warm up, but I had to scrape the ice off the windshield outside and in to see anything so I gave her a good while to warm up. Once she was idling good with choke in I pulled her around the block to park on the side street, and about half way around the block she started running a bit rougher when some damn buzzer went crazy behind the dash, but I figured it was just some quirk because it so cold and pulled in to park. There weren't any lights on on the dash ( except the washer light but I can never get that one to go off).

I searched around on here and found some posts about a box behind the battery to clean the contacts on before looking anywhere else so I figured I'd check that out when the weather cleared up.

Three weeks later I go out to start her up because things have warmed up and I've got some time to take her out, but when I do she idles right for maybe 10 to 15 seconds then the exhaust gets loud and she starts bucking right to left so bad I feel like I'm riding one those electric bulls sideways. I couldn't keep her running without my foot on the pedal. The sound is very rough with a sweeping sound to it like half the engine isn't firing.

After some more reading I checked for air sucking in the hole one position counterclockwise from the idle compensator. There is absolutely no pull there so I assume my shutter valve isn't stuck. I tried to get in where it is manually but I haven't removed the rats nest yet so that was an exercise in futility. I ran out of light this evening so I didn't pull the plugs to listen for swooshes, so I'll do that when I have time on Sunday.

Is there anything else I should look for or try before I resign myself to having a dead rotor, probably blown apex seal.

Thanks ahead of time for any input.

Do a compression check. Should be a thread in the archives about using a piston compression tester in the rotary engine. With that info, can probably give a better diagnosis, and is cheaper than a rebuild atm

Check ignition. If you it is bouncing around, it could be because it is running off one rotor. Check for dead ignitors, or water in the electrical system since there was a lot of snow around.

Thanks for the input, and the title change I will try to be more concise in the future. I'm sorry for the length of the original post as looking at it now it seems to have several irrelevant points. I tend to get distracted by tangential information and digress easily, which I appear to be doing right now, sorry.

At any rate I recently replaced the ignitors and the coils, though I know the ignitors can be a bit flakey, so I will start there. I also have bought a bunch of wire and connectors to start going through the system replacing stuff where needed as I was having problems with the alternator already. I should have a few hours on Sunday to start going through the wiring which was to be my next project anyway.
