Identify My Manual Tranny?

how can i figure out what transmission i have? Are there codes stamped on them somewhere?

on the top of the bell housing it reads..... F 016042

Any help would be great...

wether it's got gsl-se gears in it or non gsl-se gears in it.......i bought the car with a swap, returning it to gsl-se status and curious as to what transmission i have, gear wise.

does it run?
if so see what rpm it runs in 5th gear at a certain speed

then calcuate teh ratio

unfortunately it doesn't run...

how do you calculate it?

rpm's / speed = ratio?

something with the ratio from tire diameter,differeential and rpms, then solve for the gear ratio

Well I found the gear ratio list for the 2 transmissions.....there doesn't seem to be a huge difference in the numbers....think I would evenbe able to tell the difference?

The -SE tranny should have a vent on the right side.

Damn you beat me to it

The vent is on the bellhousing, there isn't one on a 12a trans.
