I was wondering about racing civics.
Ive heard so many people talk about how they raced civics and owned them.
well I came across some words that inspired me.
they said I quote"racing a civic is like being in the special omlympics"
I found that somewhat true if you think about it. come on they have no chance.
what do you think about racing civics. post your expression. no filter

Right in front of my sales desk, in the showroom, is a 2006 Civic SI coupe, 197 hp. Nice little car but I don't think that it would be able to take out either of my Rx7s. If I have some free time at the dealership I'm going take one out for a test drive just to see what sort of power they really have.

Uuuuh, I raced a guy who had a B18 swap and he got OWNED. He had some wicked wheel hop off of the line. I dont see how those "mad fast Civics" get the power to the ground without starting from a roll.
^ Above race was from a stoplight, to the next light which was red. I didnt lose any traction and destroyed him. Afterwards he wanted to know what kind of engine swap I had.....

Heh, I have a CRX and my 7. I would say they are about the same in speed in a straight line. In the corners though, the crx would take the 7 quite quickly. Expecially in an autocross.
The 7 is more fun to drive around town though. Getting the back out sideways and reving to the sky is a blast. And of course, my wife hates my honda. Too siff of a suspension for her and the supercharger makes her head hurt. . . .

it all depends on the civic...generally overall your talking about racing a car with little to no engine mods...and if this is the case I would have to say that a well maintained 7 could easily take a civic...but when you start to get into all kinds of mods or engine swap into a civic the advantage I would have to say shifts to the civic...sure it loses traction on the start up but how many people bait another car from a stop usually your cruising when they ask for it...in that case an upgraded civic would have a significant advantage over our stock 7's as much as I'd like to admit it...I know theres a guy around here with a vr6 vw motor swap into his civic with twin turbo at about 13psi...and that car can move...its all dependant on the car...theres and ours

I agree with that statment. Stock on stock the Rx-7 would win. I am also a ferm beliver that a Rx-7 could out handle a civic with equivilent suspention modification.

Ok Now What Happens When Honda's Acura's And All The Other Fwd Buddies Come In And Start Pulling Into The Lanes. You Look Around You And Every One Disapears From The Stands Lol Hmmm Why Is That Lol Jajajajaja

The Civic is a small family runabout, the bottom of the Honda range. So why bother racing them?
The reality is a stock recent base model Civic will perform equally with a stock RX-7 in both speed and handling. That shows how far car design has improved when a 05 small family sedan equals an early 80s sports car. A modern Civic Si will leave a stock FB well behind. It is quicker and handles better.
Once you start modifying either, it is a matter of how much you are willing to spend; bolt-on, porting etc. However, if you drop a hot Gen 2 [250hp+] into a FB then there is more potential than a hot Civic Si.
The Civic Si at 197hp is a good practical sports car/daily driver which I was thinking of buying to replace my R34. Instead my choice is now the Golf GTI R32 with a 3.2 engine and all wheel drive. Of course I am keeping my 85 12AT as my cruising car. It's a traditional sports car, and I forgive it its poor steering and rear end suspension.
Edit. It shows how much the Mazda project car, the Kabura, has to compete against. The Golf R34 costs as much as the RX-8 and has equal performance.
