I think I need a speed pulse generator for my 81.

No joke I'm trying to get cruise working in my 81. I've got most of the components installed, except the "speed pulse generator". It's in the 81 wiring diagram for the cruise control. The 83 has the "vehicle speed switch" located in the speedometer I believe, but in the 81 this (or the =) is located elsewhere. The connector is in the engine bay wire harness below the brake master cylinder. Oddly enough my 83 f-150 has a sensor in the speedometer cable in that location.
Anyone have an Idea where it's located or what it looks like as this may help me obtain one in the FS section.

Steve.

I had figured they all used a really crude version of a vehicle speed sensor on the back of the speedo. Didn't realize that only 83 had that... Guess that was my "learn something new about FB's" moment for the day.... Hopefully someone can chime in that has one or has seen one in person, sorry I can't be of more help!

Thanks 82.
The speedo has the same mounting holes as the later models but the wire diagram says otherwise. From what I can barely see on the diagram it might be in/on the tranny and only the connector is on the loom under the brake master. Until the other day I had 7 nearly complete wire harnesses from different gens but no 81.

Here is a photo of the connector, it tee's off the harness coming out of the firewall. It has black w/red stripe and black w/blue stripe and a black wires. Also a photo of the FSM wire diagram.
I should have titled the thread "Anyone with an 81 with cruise, help me." I have not checked the 82 wire diagram to see if it's the same or like the 83.

Checked the 82 wire diagram and it's like 83. The 81 is alone here.
I "think" I found the SPG(speed pulse generator) in the parts fiche, it's labeled as "generator, A.C.C.". Also noticed I have the wrong cruise Set/Coast/Resume switch. I have one from an 83 and the 81 is apparently on the left combination switch, I don't know if it matters as it plugged in to the same connector.
I guess I'll start a thread in the parts section...
