I think I F'd Up big!

I have been working on getting my stelring carb up aand going. I have taken off the choke plate, and added a linkage for cruise control and AC Idle Comp.

Well I had blocked off the Choke holes with JB weld as seen in my other thread.

So I decided that I was gonna clean up the carb even more. I figured since I have Mech Secondaries. Why do I need the Vaccum box for them. So I took it off, which left me with a hole. So I filled it with JB weld.

I did some things and I kinda forgot about it. Then I put on the carb and was going to see all my hard work pay off. Well after driving it around, and getting low on gas I decided to bring it home.

I am cleaning up my mess when I pick up the Vaccum box, Then it hits me HOLY SHYT I didnt let the JB Weld dry but an hour tops!

So I run out to my carb, and sure enough the JB Weld is no where to be found. Sucked into the carb!

What do I do? Where does it go? Should I worry?

I really hope I just didnt make a 300 dollar mistake! Im in overdraft as is!

Oh man, oh man. That's why I use the Kwick version. I don't even dare venture where it is now.

shiiiit!

I... shiiiiit!

Hopefully you're lucky enough that it just got sucked onto a jet and you can just replace the jet. If not, its in your engine.

If you are very lucky, then it got sucked in and mixed with enough gas to keep it from setting up inside the engine. I'm not sure how gas effects wet JB though... I would say that the fact that your motor didn't suddenly lock up on you is a good sign. If something bad was to happen, I'd think that you'd have seen it by now. Next question, you carb is a Sterling? Then why did it have a choke and all that other crap on it? Was it an old version maybe? Curious...

It was an early version of a sterling that he made for a guy trying to pass emmisons, So he did all the mods, but left the choke and other stuff to make it pass visual inspection, and kept the stock fuel jets in hope that it would pass emmisons

I bought it second hand, got a good deal, and couldnt wait the 10+ weeks for custom sterling.

Me and Jon (Vipernicus42) are going to split a fuel jet kit, So I should hopefullyhave it running pretty darn good here soon, If this didnt mess it up too bad.

Well Im off to start tearing down my junk carb to see where it leads too.

I will let you know What I find. From no on all I will use is kwick JB I think lol

There is a carb manual in the archives, along with the FSMs. Download that and you should be able to see where that port leads. I'm too lazy to look it up for you tonight.

Green dot is where it comes in from the hole, red dot is where it goes up inside and thats where I lose track.

False Alarm Guys!

After closer inspection I found that it only sucked it inward, thus creating the look of it being gone, it was in a cone shape in the hole. I found no other traces of it anywhere in the carb.

I think it was soft enough for it to move, but hard enough to stay in a soild form. And not travel far in the tiny holes.

This is a major lesson learned!

Darn, I was looking forward to thread about you tearing down and rebuilding your carb. See, when pointing one in the right direction, they learn more. Kinda like directing an orchestra.

Y'all can now call me Maestro trochoid. Even if I have lost my crystal *****, er ball.
