i just came back from the junk yard and picked up a 2nd gen coil pack. i was succesful in opening it and wiring the coil as the threads on the board explained.my problem is that i dont undersstand how i need to power the coil.

where do i get ground?

The coil gets power that went to the original coil, the spark fires it, just follow the post carefully, i did it a couple of weeks ago and mine worked fine after I located a grounded wire.
