The only way you are going to get to a 12sec car is by turbo charging. That means ported engine and turbocharging. That all sums up to cash, if you got it then you can make it fast.
The base modifications for s stock 12a is header system and some sort of a aftermarket carb setup. Could be sterlings setup, mikunis, webers, edelbrocks 625 cfm, holleys carb...
With the exhaust and carb mod depending on what carb set up is only going to get you approx 140-150hp. Add street porting and get an additional 20-25hp. Not anywhere near enough to do 12's in a 1/4. Take that you will need to add a performance clutch setup that will handle the extra hp. A lightweight steel flywheel will help you times by reducing inertia and this enables the actual hp to be directed to the wheels easier. Need to read up on turbo engines and the mods that have been done to achieve your goals. rcx7doctor

12 seconds is a tall order for a car thats in the 16-17s stock.I barely run 12s and I have a ported, upgraded turbo EFI 13BT.
Your talking either turbo and lots of supporting mods to tolerate the torque,or an all motor N/A setup with monster porting and terrible driveability manners.Or one 12 second pass on nitrous, then your motor goes poof!
If you want to remain 12A,non-turbo and be reasonably street driveable,Id shoot for mid 14s to high 13s as a goal.If you go turbo, the sky is almost the limit, but it requires substantial supplementary mods and $$$$$$.
Weight loss is a big factor too,but again street comfortability will suffer.
