Theres no way i would have traded for any 2ed gen model except a turbo car.
yeah i'm aware how much the 2ed gens weigh as the series went on the cars came with more and more creature features and more 'dead' weight. there is one thing that i noticed first off,,,, road noise or the lack of in the 2ed gen. oh,,i know the 2ed gens are pigs. thats okay with me. when i get done with this T2,, body kit, wheels, and paint it's going to be sweet.. i'm not really hip on the 1st gen wide bodys but the mariah body parts for the 2ed gens change the look of the car that i like. some people love the look of a stock 1st gen, i like how the mariah mode four changed it without going wide body. i only paid $150.00 dollors for the -SE.
to be honest the -SE was/is falling apart, repair one thing and another would fail
and thats not cool. i call that a money dump. while my 82 GS(12a) i trust to take anywhere i can't remember the last time something failed on it. it runs real good, looks cool, and everything works, everything ! and it's pretty fast for 100 horse power. after owning an -SE (13b) and a GS(12a) i wasn't really impressed by the -SE. and the engine is limited as far as the EGI goes. you know the RE-EGI engine is not the first choice to port and for performance and was only made for 2 years.
i still own a 1st gen,, and now a turboII too...

love the braaaap
IMO, the 1st gen has a sportier feel to it. I haven't driven one, only ridden in a modded 10AE, and it pulled HARD. I just didn't like the way the suspension felt. It was too soft for my liking. Granted, it is a more stable car at speed, but you have to admit that a 1st gen isn't bad unless you have one hell of a cross wind. An aftermarket front air dam will fix that.

i've never had the opportunity to drive a T2, but i've been in a 86GXL, and to me.. it just wasnt anything compared to my SE. But.. I dont wanna knock 2nd gens.. And I dont want anyone knocking 1st gens.. Fd's are tight too .. I just love the feel of my SE.. it becomes a part of me.. every input i can sense. I know exactly the breaking point of friction.. I can drift the car anywhere I want.. No other car I have driven has had that much feedback, and thats why i've kept my FB.

i think FC's look a ton better than FB's too... i love the look of a FC... not as much as a FD, but mazda progressed so well thru the generations...
