AC does little except for remove weight from the car, as the AC has a clutch and only draws power from the engine when you're using it. The airpump is a different story though. When I removed it from my car (and installed a yoohoo belt) I picked up a ton of throttle response, and the engine was much quieter (Airpump does drone). I have no idea if it added any power or not, but the car was much more enjoyable to drive without the airpump and emissions. That and it stayed cooler inside the car without the cats as well.

Maybe 1HP from the lack of airpump drag and the extra belts.
The weight loss gains can be pretty substantial considering our cars are light and there is a lot of steel and cast iron that can be removed when pitching the AC and smog gear. Less weight helps improve every performance aspect of the car.

I agree Box_Man,losing the airpump does quiet things down a lot, and it lets you hear that great rotary engine whine much clearer.

You don't "ADD" Hp, you free up the available HP. :-)

I know,I know;-).......sometimes its better to leave things a little "wrong" for the sake of getting a short answer across.
