How to store a pulled engine?

Read up on 7aull's winter storage thread:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...pulling+engine
Good write up and very thorough as to how to pretreat an engine prior to storing a car, but it references a bunch of fluids that would of course be drained prior to pulling the engine.

Without the coolant and oil, how would one protects the goods during a resto project?

What do you think about seafoaming before it comes out?

Should I MMO it before storing?

Also, if not put on an engine stand, how do you rest the engine? I was figuring making a cradle out of wood and tarping the motor to keep the ick out.

Additionally, what should I leave on the motor? Not planning on a rebuild as it only has 60k on a mazda rebuild and compression is fine.

Any suggestions and tips would be appreciated as would anything else I didn't think of.

bring it to me and ill store it in my car

i dont know if id put MMO in it, just to be safe. maybe some indemitsu and turn it over to be sure to coat everything. as foreverything else, you should be fine. id definately sea foam it before you pull it. that way you can get rid of some carbon. if it were me, id sea foam the engine with the deep creep while it was out. id only do it a week or so before i planned on reinstalling it. thatll get rid of any of that unwanted carbon.

Still needs to be sealed against moisture, esp w/o coolant since all the internal cast iron will start rusting immediately in a moist/humid environment. Maybe seal up a container of desecant in the lower hose inlet? (top blocked by thermostat). Still would use some oil/lube/ MMO in chambers, spin then reinstall plugs, plug up exhaust and intake ports with...tape? Anything to keep moisture out. Help to give it a spin once a month - BE CAREFUL SPINNING VIA USING THE MAIN PULLEY tho since the wrong way (if using a socket on it) would loosen it and cause the eccentric shaft front bearing to drop and destroy the motor!!
