how small is too small for stock rims?

i have the basic 4 spoke chrome mags, currently with 175/70 R13 all seasons mounted.

i see a set of 4 studded snows for sale cheap... but they are 165/80/ /R13s

anyone can tell me if these are too skinny?

the snow tires are .8 of an inch taller, so actually they won't look that huge. a skinny tire like that should work good in snow.

should be fine on the stock rims ... I run some 165/70R14 mud and snow tyres on 5.5" steel rims with no problems (not on the 7 tho')

They should work well on the white stuff ... they are pretty scary on tarmac though

I'll second the scary on tarmac comment. I got 185-70 hankook zovacs on my car right now, grip like crazy on snow and even a little on ice, sort of..., but on dry roads, man can you say understeer, it plows into turns like its its job.
