How to repair driver's side vent lever?
Gang: my 85 GSL's driver side vent lever broke after several years of my having to force it to move. I guess the foam tape which seals the little door inside the vent tube became sticky in its old age and became so hard to unstick it cause the plastic lever to finally break.
Has anyone else ever fixed something like this? I vaguely remember removing instrument cluster from junkyard RX7 years ago, and at that time I attempted to get the the vent parts but never could figure out how to dissassemble the jigsaw-like vent stuff under the dash without destroying all the parts.
So I have been driving it all winter (it broke last Dec) in "fan mode". Now that it is summer here in Indy and beginning to get hot, I'd like to switch it to vent mode (outside "ram" air) which is cooler and has more volume than fan-forced air flow.
Of course opening the window is a much faster fix than what I expect to be an entire weekend just to fix the plastic lever.
Anyone have any ideas on a easier quicker fix?
Thanks, Cuz.
