How much is too much

Im lookin at throwin in a 13B REW in my 82... i was wondering how much power can i put to it without being undriveable. i was looking at around 350-400 hp , but that may be too much with such a light weight car... im wanting to run in the low 12's....any suggestions??

hell ifyou can apply it, you could hit high 11's. its all about getting it to the ground and not slipping. but then you have to worry about breaking components. hahaha, GOTTA LOVE IT!

its not that hp that high is too much for the weight of the car, its that it is too much for the less than perfect suspension and brakes FB's have. The rear geomety leaves much to be desired, as do the cheesy macphearson fronts. The brakes are also too small to handle anything more than sprited driving. Don't get me wrong, its a great car, and can handle anything a 12a or mild 13b can put out, but i don't think anything more than 250 or so is very useable. Just my $.02

but then again, if you finally got your 400hp, it'd be a good excuse to put bigger brakes and better suspension under the car, wouldn't it?

depends on YOUR driving ability a lot.

im shooting for a regular 275 maybe 350 with some race gas.

Im planning on adding a Panhard bar and three link in the very near future. along with some furthure suspension and brake improvements.
