i was wondering....on housings is flaking of the chrome acceptable? the FSM says nothing about this, is there any tolerance? what would happen if i used a housing with small amounts of flaking around the edge?

ill put up some pics can you tell me if they are useable or not
thanks

Mazda states you are allowed 2mm from the edge ( http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/manuals/Ro...ria%201979.pdf )

I personally would not use that first housing, it would run but would not make great compression. The last three are usable but not perfect by any means.

i bet the rotor isn't that great either. the apex seal slot gets a V shape due to seal drag over time

That manual I linked gives specs for rotor wear as well.

All the housings are toast., 1st one, too much flaking, 2nd one, flaking and chatter marks, last 2, concerned about the cross hatch markings. 4th one has chatter marks too.
