How much is the cost for replacing a clutch?
The people at the shop want $850! B.S! The part is like $95 at mazdatrix. Now..labor is what $55 an hour? It takes 15 hours to change a clutch? .... My friend's clutch blew on his truck, cost him $500. So..out of curiosity how many hours does the book say it takes to change the cluctch on a 84 Rx-7? Im just curious cause $850 can't be right.

dude, $850 is bullshit!!!!
the clutch on any Rx-7, regardless of which generation is easy compared to an MR2 Turbo. and that cost me about $550 @ $60/hour at the dealer!
man, either do the clutch yourself (first time job can take a full day as long as you have everything you need right there), if you have some experience, then it should take 4 to 5 hours ... TOPS!!!!
if you don't want to or can't do it yourself ... then keep on walking and find somewhere else to do it. i noticed you're in NC, so go to the forum that covers your area and ask the guys in the area who is the rotary guru in your area.
if you pay $850 for a clutch, then you may as well be a cartoon! (no offense meant by that) but seriously, don't pay that for a clutch job. a bit of advice ... get the clutch yourself and take it to whoever is going to put it in, that way, all you pay them is labor.
good luck

from my experience, they charge 4 hours labor or around 250 labor to replace clutch, T/O and pilot and resurface or atleast touch up the flywheel surface. The Borg Warner clutch kit itself is another 225. But a couple of guys did bitch in the end that it was not enough labor cause of the infamous flwheel removal problems and the pilot bearing removal.
