How to mod a 13b

The SE engine is similar, but different compared to the 2nd gens. The 2nd gens have lighter rotors and the S5s (89-91) used 9.7 compression rotors compared to the 9.4 used in earlier engines. Also the location of the coolant seals is different. The SE has them in the rotor housing like the 12A whereas the 2nd gens have them in the irons. The RX-8 went back to the way the seals are in the SE.
The SE also doesn't have the diffusers in the exhaust sleeves like the 2nd gen NAs. There are mainly there to quite the exhaust. The turbo help to quite things on the TII engines, so the diffusers are not needed.

Ok now what about dwarf's question? Because I bought a 84 GSL-SE. I planed on turboing it but I dont know now if I should try and swap it for a T2 shortblock and rebuild that?

I am not sure if I fully understand his question. But, I'll try to answer the best I can. The TII eninge are 4 port whereas the NA are 6 port (just like the SE engine). The NAs used athe 6 port design to retain a good intake velocity down low (helps low end torque) by keeping the 5/6 ports closed. When a load is placed on the engine, they open up allowing for more flow and more intake timing (intake stays open longer). It is kinda like the V-TECH on the hondas. In a turbo, things are different. Since the turbo is pumping air through the engine, one doesn't need to close off these other ports to keep up torque. You can just keep the 4 large ports.
You can turbo the SE engine, but you are probably better off using the TII. The TII has lower compression rotors which will allow higher boost. The TII is 4 port and has more material to increase port size if you descide to port it. If you use the SE with a 6 port intake, you will need a spacer or a tubular manifold to push the turbo out further. The turbo won't clear the 6 port intake otherwise.
