I had all the records on my first FC. '88 SE with 70K original miles and I was the third owner.
The only thing I kept from the car when I sold it was an old license plate from the first lady owner. It reads "RXELNT7"

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
A car I just got at a salvage auction ( it was a donation... ) had most of the records from the middle owner, including an owner drive log. The first owner didn't use it, but the second owner did, starting at about 90k miles. Pretty cool, actually.

I've still got the original window sticker from 1981, sales reciept, owner's manual, service manual (with a crapload of entries), Rotary Rocket Magazines, every inspection sticker from 1981.
Bought the car from the original owner last January. Guy took car of his car.

I have all the records from the secound owner, and the original sales receipt from the first. The first owner only had it for 4 years, so not much on that end. I'm the third, so I basicly have almost everything.

Absolute Power is Awesome
I don't think the early paper work is around anymore, but I can pretty much remember everything that's ever happened to the car. Including the dent I put in the panel between the headlights when it was a month old and the engine replacement at three months, carbon lock, under warranty.

I have most of the records from when it came off the dealer lot in 1984 (mid-season SE). The lucky part is that my dad bought it new from the dealership and I bought it from him about 7 years ago. Since then, I've been collecting each VB order, every receipt from BAP for parts, and even have the CC receipts for gas purchases since I calculate the MPG on each one when I get home from filling up. These get taped to my garage door where I can see at a glance what kind of mileage I'm getting compared to past fill-ups. When I see mileage go down without a good reason, I start looking into the potential causes (tire pressure, oil viscosity, alignment, etc.).
I also keep a 'white-board' in my garage that I write down when routine maintenance was performed. I can tell at a glance when the belts were changed last, when I did the shocks/struts, and such. It's handy, if only to help keep track of when things were done.
I don't know many other vehicle owners that go out of their way to keep records on their cars. I can say, however, that I keep similar records for my Mazda 6 sedan.
I need to get some pictures with my '6' and '7' together...

I have the original bill of sale and detailed invoices of all services. The first two owners had it down as a work car for tax purposes, and had to keep all records for at least 5 years. They just kept the file going. The only problem is the computer printouts are fading with time and I should really photocopy them.
I hate looking at the invoices, and seeing how little they paid for servicing 20 years ago, on average about 15% of present day charges. An exception is the 84 initial price which was about 50% of the cost of a new RX-8 now.
