I just sold my original motor to some guy who was going to run it on steam... powering an oil filter crushing machine.

Slightly Warped 10-05-09 02:05 PM

My 100 dollar parts car (supposed to have had a blown motor) is running fine and smokes just a little at start up has 218355 miles on it and is driven daily.

1stGenJake 10-06-09 02:32 AM

Silver82 10-06-09 08:30 PM

62K original miles, I'm the 4th owner, got it from my dad after he had it for 24 years. Could stand to have the carb rebuilt, but is still original.

Orignal Owner
1988 GXL Coupe
At this moment, the 13B NA engine, never rebuilt, has run further than 268,000 miles.
...... and it is starting to eat lots of water

LizardFC 06-15-11 07:08 PM

1985 GSL 127k original miles and runs STRONG with no smoke. That being said, I'm planning to pull it open and bridgeport it toward the end of the summer.

Ronald_Ferguson 06-15-11 07:13 PM

I just realized I posted to a first gen disussion. Mine is an FC. Sorry!

deadphoenix52 06-15-11 07:44 PM

mine is supposedly the original engine. and supposedly has 130k miles. but the owner before the owner that i bought mine from supposedly towed the car on all fours for countless miles behind his RV, driving up the odometer.

so i have no idea. it runs good tho

bmeyer 06-15-11 07:59 PM

My 84 12A is at 158K and running like a champ. Original clutch, tranny, and such. I have an engine with 175K to drop in when mine goes in about 10 years..

cshaw07 06-15-11 08:26 PM

82 Gsl second owner 136,500 miles original engine.
83 gs unknown owner, 104k miles, origional engine, undergoing surgery right now... Soon to be boost fed :)
85 s model 95k miles sat for 14 years.

OneRotor 06-15-11 10:17 PM

My original engine let go at ~110k on DGRR this year.

aa35199 06-15-11 11:07 PM

These engines are awesome, I sold a healthy 12a at 11x,xxx to swap in a v8 which turned out was blown, the car is on it's 3rd motor because it took me 2 tries to get a ford 5.0 which wasn't blown into it. I'm a V8 RX7 guy, but you will never, ever hear me say anything about a small block rx7 being more reliable, because my car was 100 percent reliable before I started monkeying around with it.

Sin City Superhero 06-16-11 12:11 PM

85 GSL under 54,000 miles. Runs and drives great, but small oil leak, and very slight smoke at startup.

ty97206 06-16-11 04:26 PM
