There are 4 lugs on '85 Rx-7s. $2000 is too high for a run-of-the-mill Rx-7, but if it's in showroom shape or something, then it might be considered a good buy.

Yeah, use your best judgement. Pay particular attention to the wheel well rust and the upper control arm support. If it's rusted, offer much less or walk away.

If it's a nice GSL-SE though, $2,000 may be warranted...

Bigger engine (13B fuel injected), 4 wheel vented disc brakes, etc.

Ditto!

IMO the two best 1st gens that are available in the US were the '83 GSL and '85 GSL-SE.

-'83 GSL best setup with a 12a
-'85 GSL-SE best setup with the 13b

This is why I own one of each.

And how does the 84 SE differ from the 85 SE engine to make it superior, I ask you?

BECAUSE I OWN ONE!! THAT'S WHY!!

Not much differences at all.

Taller 5th gear ratio for better milage.
720 cc injectors Vs 680 cc Injectors
Newer..

I *think* that they also had a small differences in the ECU and engine timing..

Didn't the rear end ratios differ slightly between 84 nd 85 SE's?

That's between a base model and SE model.

I meant between an 84 SE and 85 SE there is a difference in the rear ratio, really small but still different.
