How light do you think it is possible to get my 7?

Okay, '85 GS. If I remove EVERY single unnessesary part, no dash, no hvac, no sound deadening, passenger seat, ALL useless stuff from engine bay, virtually no exhaust(curved pipes straight down with no mufflers or anything), no side window glass (lexan in place), no sound system, no windshield wipers, no rear hatch, no hood, no spare tire, no jack, no bumper supports, no NOTHING, how light is it possible to get a running driving 7?

I'm trying to get a 1st gen into the 14s with no performance parts(besides cheap *** ghetto exhaust, but thats not really a performance part now is it? lol), no porting, no nitrus, no turbo.

Dont tell me its not possible either, if I can get 115hp (with intake off of the car for the run, and exhaust like i mentioned above), and get the car down to 1700lbs + my 180lbs, it will be very possible to see 14s.

is 1700lbs possible? Is anything lighter possible?

Ive seen some striped outdrag cars..

On the original unibody frame I think 1800-1900 the lightest..

I think the owner of NightMare Racing told me his car is in that area..

A bare interior, cept for a dashboard, many accessories removed... such as all the AC components, an emissionsless simple 4 port 13B, over half the sheetmetal was replaced with the lightweight fiberglass of the body kit. When the kit was installed the metal was cut at irregular angles to shave as much as possible. The fiberglass is actually bonded to where the targa band would have been. Basically the only sheetmetal on the car is the hood, doors, and roofline. My side windows are lexan. Sound deadening material. With me inside the car weighs a little over 2000 lbs. I had it weighed at a shop that does work on trucks. Oh yeah not to mention that's with about 35 lbs of stereo and speaker **** removed and the passenger seat taken out. On a comfortable street setup with some stuff put back in it weighs more in the 2090 range.

have any more info on your car Adrenalife? close up pics of everything? I see several things to remove just in the couple pictures in your signiture(replace popup headlights with flushmount, remove your dashboard, a couple things in your engine bay, the hood, rear hatch, the exhaust system, lol, etc). I will remove anything nessesary to reach my goal, so long as I can pass it off as somewhat street legal. I have a windshield wiper in my passenger seat plus some windex, which legally qualifies as wipers and windshield washer fluid I broke the horn so i removed that, but I'm gonna grab me one of those super annoying air horns from wal mart so I'm legal

Damn you're really into this weight loss thing. Kind of like that fat guy and Subway. I just have to warn you...windy days will own you. I get pushed around like hell if it starts to get windy. Sometimes it feels like the car wants to come up off the ground. BTW anybody know a good technique for making flush mounted headlights? Not that I'm planning on it, but if one of the popups decides to not work someday I'll consider it.

Flush mount headlights: $5 Wal Mart headlights + $2 of Plexiglass + $2 of sheet aluminum + Duct tape = flush mount headlights Thats my plan... you may want something a bit less.... ghetto rigged, lol

Ever since I drove a Lotus Elise, weight reduction has become ultra important. Its simply unbelievable what that car feels like to drive, I will do anything in my power to get my car that light. Plus I want to prove some things. Do some things that have probobly never been done. I doubt anyone has run 14s with a 1st gen RX-7 with no performance parts besides a $15 exhaust system, and some weight reduction. I'd like to be the first to accomplish it, lol. Then I can bridgeport it and mod a few things and show how much a 12a can do with a tiny amount of money invested.

Been there done that! Can't wait to drive the beeyatch!

But I was also thinking about making some flush headlights as my next project. I just made a fiberglass dash and I think I'm satisfied with my creation!

anyone have pics of some flush headlights? I can get the plexi material, and I'm trying to figure out how to get the lights so they are clear of any obsturctions without cutting the hell out of the light wells. I'd prefer not having to do a major bubble shape around the lights.... I think I need to find some nice small halogen type projector lights. Well If I get one set done I'll be able to make more.

get it cold, then chisel and hammer it out... it should shatter fairly well.... I did mine in my toyota truck when it was like -5 Celsius out... it just shattered into pieces. Now, trying to get some little pieces I missed off is near impossible when it's 25 degrees outside... it's too rubbery and flexible.

get dry ice from the grocery store... break it up in small chunks and let it sit on the tar for like 20 min
then chizle/tap with a hammer... it should come right out

lol, mine USED to be in very nice shape.... it has gradually deteriorated to the point where I dont give a crap any more, lol.

btw, I'm planning my completely custom intake manifold now, it couldnt possibly flow as bad as stock. haha I removed the stock manifold to check some stuff out, and I was disgusted by how poorly designed it was... time to bust out the mandral bent piping and a welder, haha

if they give you any **** then tell them you've been on teerminal leave for the last 3 weeks and if you don't get the paper work in soon you wont get reembersed there normally real cool. if you look nothing like someone in the service say that your helping a friend by driving there 2nd car for them by the way its free!!!
