Angry How to get off the freaking door handle

Okay, I'm getting ready to shoot my car with primer so I'm doing prep work right now (read: pulling off stuff, sanding the **** out of everything else). Trying to get the damn door handle but can't figure out that little linkage with the plastic semi-circles and the stud with the ball on the end. It's the only thing that connects the handle to anything, so I won't go into more detail.

How do I go about getting this thing off?

There's a tab that sticks out of the white plastic piece. Pop it loose with a screwdriver and the handle will come out.

Hi.

I'm going by memory here, and it's been a while, but here's how I remember it:

The plastic thing is shaped like an "L", and clips on at the right-angle where two bars meet.

The plastic clip is open on one side, so you can just rotate it 90 degrees around one of the bars. It is now not attached to the other bar and you can get them apart.

But as I say it's been a while, and I didn't know there was going to be a test... I don't even know if I'm talking about the right thing.

Bye,

@Felix - okay, thanks. Just wanted to be sure that I'm approaching this correctly before I snap something

@Scruffychimp (nice nick by the way) - That's a different clip, but I know what you're talking about there.

Um, what are you talking about? I was asking about the door handle, not the window crank. Close though

It's a bit*** to pop that bar out of the plastic holder. I managed to do it once on my old car but on this one I couldn't. I also pulled my handles off to have it painted. I wound up leaving the plastic clips on because I didn;t want to breakthem.

I unbolted the handle and pulled it up with the bar attached. I then spun the handle around until the bar untrhreaded from the adjuster. I remember the adjuster being on the handle. It's a cylinder with a hole drilled on it.
I wound up doing it this way because you need to have those bars there if you want to open and close your door with the handles off. I would wrap my finger around it and pull it up to open the door while I was working on it.

Sorry mike, could you repeat that, I missed it. Hehe, just f*cking with ya. Nice double post.

@Spieder - I think I'm going to end up doing this too. I gave it a go last night (very quickly) and that thing wouldn't budge.

Thanks everyone.
