How do you get a stuck dizzy out of the block?

I'm still trying to fix my timing issue (sitting 90* out of phase, the first timing mark is parallel with the ground, pointing at my driver's front wheel). I'm trying to use Kentesu's writeup on mirotaryclub.com to re-set my timing to zero, but when I remove the retention bolt for my dizzy, it won't come out of the block. I've gone so far as to putting one foot on the block and one foot on the strut tower and squatting the damn thing and it won't budge. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried tapping the bottom of it with a hammer, squatting it, turning the front pulley a little both ways while pulling up on the dizzy, and nothing has worked. I have a '82 base with a rebuilt 12a (not sure about port job, PO said it's a BP).

Thanks

Jim

the timing issue you talk about is kinda iffy sounding but im not going to get into that ATM. will the dizzy turn? have you pulled out before or turned before?if you havent been able to turn it then it more that likely is seized up in the hole. you will have to spray it with WD-40(or something like that) and maybe use channel pliers to turn it so it can be freed up

I'm pretty sure I know what's going on with the timing, the PO was a fool and hacked alot of things. I got taken on the car, and now i'm trying to make the best of it before I get fed up with this one and pick up a cleaner base model to work with. I'll take her out for a spin tonight and then hit it with some PB Blaster. She's going into storage this weekend, seeing as how i'm heading to the land of ice and snow for school (Michigan Tech in Houghton, MI where the snow starts to fly in late september and doesn't stop 'til may). One of the guys that I work with said that it could be a zinc coating that is on the dizzy that could have corroded over the years and "welded" it into the block. I've also heard that if I have a warped housing that the dizzy may not come out of the block.

Does it turn freely (the body of the dizzy)? Also, are you sure your timing is that far off (90 degrees)? Shouldn't even run if that was the case. More likely, somebody had that pulley off at one time and put it back on in the wrong position...
