I have a 1983 rx7 and when i got it it ran perfectly fine. About a month after i got it it experienced a large drop in power, and it idles at about 250 rpm's as opposed to about 800-900 when i got it. When I hit the gas it will lag out and has a really hard time getting through the 5000-7000 rpm range. I have checked the air filter, the carbuerator was rebuilt about 3k miles ago and is in fine condition, the same goes for the clutch. Any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated.
Also, if anyone knows a website where i can pick up good performance parts that would be great, i'm going for about 300 horsepower and am looking for parts other than getting the engine ported and polished and a custom carb setup. Thanks for any help you can give.

 

try replacing your fuel filter. also read the 1st gen faq section, lots of info

 

check your fuel filters and your thermal reactors on your exhaust system maybe clogged get those removed or gutted.

Thermal reactors are SAs.

Definitely sounds like the exhaust system has plugged. Hold your hand at the tailpipe and have someone rev the engine. If the exhaust feels weak, drop the cats and and see if it improves. No emissions in you area, gut the cats or look for replacements.

300 hp, NA, on a 12A ain't gonna happen. 280 fwhp on a large peripheral port, but you won't like driving it around town. 13BT is your best option, or a highly modded 12A, turboed, with lots of work.
