How do I remove the stereo surround trim?

How do I remove the faceplate on the center console of an 85 GSL SE without damaging it? Want to access radio, etc. Saw plenty of dash removal threads but nothing specific about plate removal.
Thanks so much

Its easy as pie. Lemon merangue to be exact. Remove the shifter surround, and underneath are two screws that hold the bottom of the centre console faceplate in place. Remove those and then take the dials off the heater controls. Both fan speed and temp control. Underneath are two nuts and washers. Remove those ( I find that a pair of needle nose pliers work well to get the nuts loosened, it's a rather tight fit.) Then give a gentle tug on the faceplate and it should pop right off.

yup, i've found that a long 14mm socket works great for the nuts on the dials
