How do I chiping paint off my wheels???? Body kit wheels????
Hey,
Anybody know how to get chipping paint off rims. The rims are gold underneath the chipping black paint, and lets you see the lines, which makes the rims look sweet. Does anybody know if there is some kind of solution to take off a top coat but not an undercoat. Are these rims part of a body kit???? They are Enkies (the centercap claims that), and the back of the Haynes Manual show some rims that look like them. Are they stock on a 79 rx7 (gs I think since it has a rear swaybar and sport mirriors)? dunno.... And Is the light on the back of my car part of a body kit, Look closely above each end of the light and you see cracks where bondo wasn't used sparingly??? I see them in pics on the erebuni kits ( http://www.erebuni.net/ge/mazrx779.htm ). Well let me know what you think!!! There should be pics of the light, and my wheels, but I don't know if they worked.
LATERZ,
Andrew

My suggestion might be taking them to one of those "do it yourself" car washes with the high power hoses ya know? Try using a pressure washer, maybe even a sand blaster if you get desperate. If those sound too aggresive, try just a bristle brush and some water i guess...Hope that helps.

if the original paint is baked on really good, you may spray a fine mist of brake fluid to soften the black paint, wouldnt leave it on for over an hour at first, it worked on mine anyways,,,,,and hard water sprayed right off, then soap them down good to get off the fluid, dont get it on your car paint,,,,,,good luck
Take an old bottle of windex or something that has a screw type sprayer, put the brake fluid in and spray.

I have a later model set of gold Enkei's. I think these are anodized, not painted. I had mine bead, not sand, blasted, then painted them gold again and polished out the rim. POR 15 makes a 2 part water based urethane for the final clear coat.
brake fluid works for sure! Or you can buy a can of paint remover. Comes in a spray. Turns the paint into a sludge. then paint your rim whatever color you want. the best thing to do is to polish the lip and then clear coat everything.
