how to change 4x110 to 4x114.3

so ok i have a 83 rx7 GSL, the lug patter is 4x110, i hear that the GSL-SE models ran 4x114.3. Was wondering what all would have to be changed over to make the swap...would just the hubs work?

do hubs and brakes while ur at it. u already have the gsl-se differential so u dont need to bother with that. im planning on doing the same thing to my 85 gs eventually. do the hubs and brakes. theres a whole bunch of threads on this in the archives they will have more details. u can even use fc parts and big break kits and **** theres a million ways to do it just use the search

rear requires axles and brakes, front requires spindles and brakes.

for the rear, swap the entire rearend including driveshaft. The axle sizes are different, so you can't just use the axles with your differential, you have to swap everything. This is what I have heard at any rate. Any experts may correct me if I'm wrong.

your right he does need to swap the whole rear-end, and on the front you have to get the entire strut

Glad to hear I gave him valid information. Is this the same for the '79 and '80s? Are the struts a straight swap?

I've swapped a non-SE '84-85 suspension setup into my '79, which is pretty similar to swapping in an SE setup.

The main difference on the SA cars is that the hydraulic fittings on all the brake lines are a different thread pitch. This means that you either need custom hoses that have 2 different thread pitches on them, or you have to swap the brake hard lines from the newer car. I actually cut the lines and double-flared them with new, '84-style thread pitch ends.

You'll also want the master cylinder and proportioning valve. The drum brake rear end uses a different proportioning valve than the disc, and it doesn't work real well with the disc rear end.

Yes, the struts are a straight swap. The body shape is actually a little different in the wheel well, so the brake hoses are routed a little differently, but you can make all the '84-85 style parts work ok without much difficulty.
