Last newbie question for today, I promise. What is this hose called? I have sourced new radiator and heater hoses, but dont know how to search for this one as dont know what its called. Is this also the kind of thing you just pick up at your local auto supply store and cut myself the right length? Thanks for all the help.
That part is still available to purchase new from Mazda. Part number is 1480-13-718A
mazda-parts.com is located in southern california so you may save on shipping as well unless you go to your local dealership to order it
Boyee... much appreciated. Ordered and on the way. Timing is going to be tight as trying to get the car driveable for an event in a couple of weeks, any issues with substituting some generic hose until the real thing arrives?
Just saw you are Bay Area, and a Keep It Original guy. You going to the Breakfast Club vintage Japanese event in a couple of weeks? You ever at the Novato Cars and Coffee? The RX7 is my son's car, and he has not seen another first gen at either event. He is also trying to keep his car as original as possible, although has not been able to resist a little of the teenage poke and stretch on the wheels!
Well darn it, Mazda just emailed that out of stock. Anyone got a workaround? Anyone ever made one from off the shelf OReilly parts and have instructions? I can make something up, but would prefer advice from those that have been there before me.

Glad to help! Sounds like there is a delay of a few days to get the part ordered from their distribution warehouse and shipped to the dealer to fulfill and ship out to you. I’d say you should try your local pick-n-pull or junkyard that may have some RX-7s or if you know any local rotary shops that might have this part they can grab from their parts pile.
I have not heard of the Breakfast Club vintage Japanese event and Novato is quite far away as i am located around San Jose area. I haven’t been to a car meet in years but would love to see your son’s RX-7 one day!
Breakfast Club is an interesting one. https://www.breakfastclubrally.com/drives/tokyocalling. They are mostly Marin and north of there but have seen them do so events further south. They concentrate on vintage events and actual drives, a more (dare I say) curated attendance than a regular Cars and Coffee. The one in a few days is themed, Japanese only.
cool! Thanks for the link @Slow_sevens I am quite tempted to take my RX-7 out there for the rally since I’d still have current registration and hopefully I can get this vacuum leak issue I have going on sorted before then but in any case the car should be able to make it!
Also check out our rotary supported shops like Mazdatrix, Atkins, Racing Beat. They may have the hose you need laying around if you give them a call and ask. There’s Ricks Performance out in Pleasanton that may have some first gen parts (I haven’t been there in many years so I don’t know what sort of rotary parts he has around) but can’t hurt to call.
gracer7, Sadly no luck. Everywhere I tried was out of stock with no ETA. I did get the kind offer of a used hose from another RX7club person which will keep me going. In the meantime I did manage to make a 1" inner diameter radiator hose from OReilly work. Seems that diameter of a one inch hose is between the two different size ends that the original hose has, so its tight on one end and had to be compressed with a threaded style hose clamp on the baggy end so not ideal. Plus its not shaped to the S that the original was so is all kinds of wonky once you tension the belt... but hey, beggars cannot be choosers and for now seems to work.
1480-13-718A i just tried to order this part as well and the Mazda dealership parts center told me that it was NLA. Maybe some places like Rotary Response in Tucson, AZ will have these parts available as well or one time when I ordered from Jim Ellis Mazda they called me and did a search and told me one other dealership in the nation had the NLA part I was looking for (now that is what I call customer service!).
