Hood cord wont work
you know, the thing you pull to pop the hood, right by the speaker on the kick panel of the driver side, its hella lose now, and wont open the hood, so I'm wondering if its snapped or unhooked (or something) and I need alittle help with what I should do about the cord, plus how would I open the hood now? I can't think of any way to pop the hood, it sucks.
Please help, I'm in a hurry, so sorry if I don't make sense

I already tighted it up and such, theres just no strain on the cord, like its just sitting there, you know, how the cord is kinda tight normally, and when you pull the lever, it 'pops', well thats not happening, I don't know what to do, I have to change the oil tomarrow also, so its a cruel mean evil time for the car to act up (I'm sick, and as such, to sick to go try abunch of stuff) so please, if anyone knows how to pop the hood so I can check the cord, or have had this problem, and no how to fix it, post here

Any idea how to pop it, or what to hit when I'm under there, cause I don't want to break anything
My luck, I'll tap that one thing that Mazda left on there that says "Don't hit, your car will deflat" or something
I assume its just like the latch on my camaro, but since the hood opens backwards on the rx7, the latch is above the engine and tranny, which I figure means I will have to hit the latch blind eyed.
If all else, thank you guys for the reply

It sounds like the cable came disconnected from the latch, that is a real hassle to deal with. Your best bet is to try to jack the front of the car up as much as possible and attack the latch from the underside with a hook of some sort, pulling towards the driver's side (assuming Willows is in the US).
It might be easier to take the hinges off the front to gain access, I don't know. I wish you luck, though.
Oh, one more thing: when you do get it open, take a minute to safety wire the end of the cable housing to prevent any further problems.

This might sound really dumb. but i had a similar problem. I had someone pull the cord and i slid a flat head screw driver in the corner of the hood got enough space to pull up on the hood a bit and attacked the latch with my flat head.. it worked and all i did to fix the latch was some lithium grease.. try it out...
