Holley Carb modifacation
Holley Carb modifacation
This is my 1st rotary engine car and I want to put a new carburetor on it since the original one just drips instead of sprays. I have a 1980 with a 12A. I noticed alot of vaccum hoses and additonal things on the original and want to know how that will effect a new one without all those extras. Is there some sort of adapter kit. Also, do you have to have the smog pump or can it be removed with all of it's accessories. Thanks
simply put:
get a holley or weber. you'll need a new manifold and a few other things on top of that. yes you can remove every emission related piece. do a search to get more specific.

Could you possibly help me with what those extras are so I don't cathc myself short on something. It already has a 4bbl carb on there so I figured it would be a direct swap. I already of a holley on hand.
well, you need a "holley specific" manifold which you can pick up from www.racingbeat.com
you need a better fuel pump and you'll need a fuel pressure regulator. carter from what i hear is the pump of choice; or you could go holley on that too.
also depending on what holley it is you will have to jet it correctly for your application. it's hard to just grab any ol' holley and slap it on a 12a. you're also gonna need to open up your exhaust. get a better header, remove cats, etc. it won't be smog legal when you do this. this is all i can help you with. there are a few guys on here running holley setups very successfully. i hope they chime in.
