holley 465 help

alright i already searched so dont be mean. i just got a new holley 465 for my 85 12a stockport and now it wont idle, the original primary jet size was #57 and it would hold an idle aftersome fidlin but when i changed the jet size to #50 like the rb 465 it wont idle. when i throttle it a bit it will pick up to about 3k and die off does this mean its too lean. oh yeah and the header is glowing. #50 doesnt seem too small is it? and if this helps its about 35 degrees outside.

Glowing header is usually one of two things. Fuel or timing. Too rich or retarded ignition/no leading ignition. Check that your leading timing is working. Then check that timing is correct. Then check your air/fuel ratio.
