Hmmm... (Flow rates... Induction Concepts... Yackedy Schmackedy...)
Just tooling around with some ideas in my head...
Air flow rate is measured in Cubic feet per minute, or CFM... Right? And to have the maximum performance out of your engine, you need everything to have the same CFM, or if you must have a bottleneck, make it the engine...
Are there any actual numbers out there for stuff, or will it vary? Things I'm wondering about are the flow rates of:
Stock port 12A
Street port 12A
Stock Nikki Carb
Yaw modded Nikki carb
Various other carbs (Minuki, Holley, and others... Dunno what types are available...)
Turbo II turbocharger (Probably different numbers for the compressor and turbine sides...)
12A Turbo turbocharger (Ditto)
Can anyone tell me where to find these numbers, or provide them if you have them?
This is strictly a drawing board thing that I'm just thinking of... I am not planning on actually using any of the turbo info on my RX-7, as it isn't even running yet... I just noticed that in moremazda's Turbo 12A thread, he said the turbo was a restriction at low speeds... I'm wondering if there's a more appropriately sized turbo for high compression 12A's...

Unfortunately, I don't have any numbers for you.
As far as the turbocharged applications go, CFM is only part of the story. The amount of pressure and the temperature are both equally important. That's why a bigger turbo will get you the same amount of power at a lower PSI (in a lot of cases, anyway). The two go hand in hand.
The reason the turbo is the bottleneck is because at low RPMs, it is not really building boost, and if it's not building boost, it's just a restriction in your intake. When you're NA, the maximum air flow in and out of the engine, at the coldest temp possible, will yield the highest peak power, and a compressor in the intake path will restrict air, not too mention the restriction and piping for an intercooler.
