HMM debating the age old question

Rotors or pistons.. lol I need a partial rebuild at least for my streetport 12a, and for the money why not go v8? I'd love to keep the rotary roots of the rx7 but for reliabilities sake and cheapness of parts a v8 makes alot of sense.. after seeing "rotor vs. pistons" fb ad fudds last time, I am leaning towards the v8 solution. 350-400 rwhp seems a little to extreme for a really reliable rotary, and since it's going to see a fair share of track time I'd like to keep the powerband high through the rpm band.

someone talk me out of it? If it were v8 I'd be going with the 87-93 ford 5 liter/t5 setup..

rotary looks like tII

I am looking for the cheapest, reliable 350-400 i can get

And with a v8 i will still stand a chance a passing emmisions here..

let the debate continue

The extra weight will really screw up the FB's already poor front weight bias. Your handling would go to ****.

As far as the HP you certainly will be hard pressed to make those numbers reliably from a rotary. You might look at transplanting a 13BREW, Turbo II, or even a 20b. Obviously the V8 would be much less expensive. If it were me, and it's V8 power I wanted, I'd go buy a Camero SS or Mustang Cobra.

Why don't you put in a renesis motor from a wrecked rx8. They make good hp and there reliable. My friend is actually doing this swap.

No debates here. Debates of rotor vs. piston just leads to fights and flame wars. This thread is closed. If you want piston info, go to the "Other Engine Converstion" forum.
