High temps?

OK so i just got back from doing a runn to the city and was letting my car cool off and decided to do some work inside the car ( ihave no center consule removed it to do some work) well i went to bend over to the passangers side and before i knew it i was back in the driver seat with pain in my hand here i had set myu hand on some metal and the trany was extremly hot so i put a temp guage i dont have hooked up just aginst the metal it was slowly rising to 70 C+... I have no idea what i should look at or why it would get that hot imm going to start by checking the fluids in the tranny but any one have any ideas? starting to think i should sell the Rx before much more goes on i cant afford .................................
