Thumbs up Hey guys! New guy here

Hey everyone, I just purchased an 83' GSL for 600 bucks, and I want to start modding it right away! What are some good mods to start off with? I want to make it quicker. It seems like the car is sluggish and not where it is supposed to be. I just did a full tune up on it, Wires, plugs, and the works. Thanks for any input and suggestions you have. Thanks!

Hi, New Guy!

You can make your 12A scream with some bolt-ons.
First thing's first- Get a Haynes manual.
New plugs, wires, cap & rotor, fuel filter, air filter, oil change (no synth in the engine), tranny & diff oil change (definitely use synth in those).
Tune your ignition & carb.

Doing all those things will answer alot of questions you may have right of the bat. (You'll also find yourself researching the old posts here alot.)

Don't worry about anything else till you get a header on it. It can't inhale more if it can't exhale more.

I would stick with the 12A.

The first thing you need to do is develop a plan.

You need to decide what you want to use the car for and what you want out of it.

Then taylor your set up to meet your goals from your plan.

Don't just start throughing on parts and chaning engins for the sake of doing it. Spend some time here on the forum for a while and decide what you want from your car before you do any thing.

Just a bit of advise...

BTW Free flowing exhaust ie. Racing Beat (http://www.racingbeat.com/) is a great jumping off point.

Good Luck, and welcome to the forum

Matt
