Hey guys, I'm a n00b

Hey, just registered to the forum! What's going on??

A little about me, I have a really wide array of cars owned and worked on including:
89 Volvo 740 GLE (first car, would not die lol)
91 Acura Integra GS (bought at auto auction, daily driver)
73 Volkswagen Super Beetle (resto-mod restoration, 1641cc engine, topline struts sway bars, spings, etc etc) Sold a little while back.

BUT NOW!!!

Recently aquired a 1979 Mazda rx7 with a 12a from a family member

It has minor body damage up front, and rust in the rear wheel wells, and needs new window seals, but mechanically, this can is freeesssshh. And by fresh i mean, complete, and runs and drives well (although it has over 200k miles). Anywho, I know im gonna be in here asking many many questions so i figured i'd say hello!!

the beetle:

the acura:

FINALLY!! The Rx7:

and the damage

alright guys thats all i have to offer!!
Its gonna be fun!!

Digging the bug, had a few myself. A yellow SA is a perfect choice for a 1st gen, especially with fresh Spark Yellow paint.

In my sig line is a link to the online FSMs, carb manual, etc. Dowmload whatever you need and read. Welcome to the Darkside.

Yea! Another SA RX7 owner!! We'll over run those FB (81-85 body style for the Noob
guys yet
Nice looking SA "starter" RX7. Sparks yellow 79 with 1980 rear bumper!? So how did THAT happen?? You also have the rare -ish steel wheels rather than the much-more-common alloys. Interesting combo...
Hope you plan to make it look as good as the Bug!
welcome

I was about to say new fenders are cheap, but SA ones seem a bit pricier.

what about this place, anybody have experience with them:

asp

Other than that, a bitchin junkyard by the name of Crazy Rays could get me cheap replacement metal.

Oh and by the way, thanks for the positive comments on my Beetle guys!! I miss it, but i needed to help pay a bit for college (Frostburg State University). I'll try and get some pics from restoration if anyones interested. All the work, including bodywork and about a third of the paint was done in my uncles home garage. Hes an uber-mechanic with all sorts of master mechanic qualifications, and a **** ton of tools on hand. He builds mainly show n' go hotrods (23 t-bucket with a bored over and blown 302, 32 highboy with a 350)

Anywho, like i said, i got a little work ahead of me (not as much as the VW) including:
Window seals, rust inside of bottom of doors, fading paint (thinking 350z copper possibly? Or stock yellow respray, or s2000 yellow), e-brake cable replacement, interior touch ups, decent not-so-flashy stereo, replace meineke "Free replacement for the life of your car muffler which lead to, 'We no longer carry this model muffler, so we can build you one for free, which was great form the header back until they got to the muffler which is now a F*$%ING Ford Festiva muffler that makes the car sound terrible IIMO =

So, all that and other random little things im sure ill encounter

Thanks a lot guys, im glad this community is strong and helpful, unlike a few of the VW forums i was so addicted to, HoodRide and The Samba for instance.

THANKS!
