Not only is it easier, but you tend to get a little more airspace, because you can form it around the parts of the car. If you do it right, it would be everybit as solid (if not more so) than a MDF/Fiberglass hybrid. Generally when I do it, I use MDF for the front plate (The part the sub mounts to) and glas the rest of it. I will post pics of my car when it stops raingn, and I can go take some. Don't take my post worng, I'm not critisizing your work. Like I said, it looks good!

Do you have any other pictures of the box you made for those? That is what I am looking for. Need to figure out how to get a set of RE8s in without taking up a bunch of room.

I must say, this is one of your best done projects yet. You definitely have a talent for woodworking, which is one of my other passions. I've been working on 7s so much, my woodworking tools sit in the corner collecting dust. One of the days I need to get them out and finish the rest of my kitchen cabinets.

Now that's funny! I'm in the same exact boat. I only managed to make a window seat and one cabinet last summer, 'cause I was spending every spare minute with my 7.
That is a great design and craftsmanship you've got there $100T2.

My other woodworking project:
Built that for my girlfriend for Valentines Day. I might actually be starting a business making similar cabinets... She's into that kind of furniture, and said that cabinet would sell for between $250 and $400. It took me three hours and $50 in material.

Well, due to people telling me that $200 is waaaaay too cheap and knowing how much work this is, after the first 10 are sold, the price is going up.
Sudseh is the first buyer, he actually has the money. I'm trying to keep the prices down because I know FB owners are all poor, so if you want in at the special introductory price, show me the money.

Would a set of kicker competition speakers work in a tight space like that i think mine are the free air. Im interested in something like that but wonder if my speakers will work to their peak potential there ?

By the way, for those of you who are wondering: Yes, I will do some custom stuff... One person wants the box for 8" Solobaric square subs. I am also going to go down to the local car audio place and pick up an 8" sub and see about doing a dual 8" box, a quad 8" box, or a dual 8" box on one side of the hatch. Just so there is no misunderstandings here, for the current box, you MUST remove the stand for the jack. You CANNOT have a spare tire if you want the 10s, unless when I start the production run I can figure out a way to set the subs back farther.

Hey $100T2 that’s a nice design you have going there!!, I was pointed over here to this site from sounddomain and I’m glad to see I’m not the only rx7 owner who loves car audio.
I went a different route with my install, I will be doing competition car audio so I don’t need a spare tire in mine since it will be on a trailer going to the shows.
Just thought I would share a picture of what I did, Yes a little extreme!! to say the least. Oh and Yes that other guy will definitely hear me!!.
Oh and this was my first post so hello everyone!!

If you go to kicker's website, you can see the deminsions best for getting most use and best quality out of the speaker. I know 2 8" solabarics are going to sound awesome.
