Help Please!! ( T-bar Question )

car: 84GSL 12a

note: I already did a search

Ok, a few days ago i noticed that my car has lost alot of power. It kinda feels like the secondaries are no longer opening. After giving the car a good run up to 6K, i pulled over and took a look into the secondary barrels...clean and dry, not a hint of gas in 'em.
So i tried reving the car by the throttle spring, outside the car, to about 6K (i know, i know, it is hard to tell if the secondaries are opening when the car is not under a load. But i thought i would give it a try anyway) Still nothing. I heard people talking about the T-bar coming off, or something like that, in past threads. If i remember corectly, peejay had a problem with his.
The problem is i can't find the T-bar
I will admit, i'm not the best one to be working on a carb. But, none the less, i want to try to fix the problem.
If anyone can give me a good desription of where the t-bar is, or even better, have a pic to show me. It would be greatly appricated!! I just want to see if the T-bar is the problem, or if it may be something else.
I have been getting a little frustrated with this problem.
With the amount of power i lost.......i feel like a neon could beat me in a race F*CK!!

Anyhoo, i really hope someone can help me out.

Thanks in advance!!

Vince

ok, im sure youve had a lot of suggestions, but try these... your timing may be off, if your engine screeches loudly while revving, give it a shot. do not use your ac for a while, for some reason the compression in a bad ac unit while screw the secondaries. do not even turn the fan on. unfortunately you may have to completely drain the system. your coil for the secondaries may be bad, maybe. test the output of both coils. 14 volts should be present at both while running. check your wires and plugs if old. an ignitor may be crappin out.hmmm...apex seals on rear rotor may be shot...hmmmmm..... running out of ideas. btry these and please let me know what the problem is or was, i am as interested as you are. aninstaller@hotmail.com

Well...we can rule out the A/C thing....i removed that in june.
I didn't notice the engine screeching at high revs, and i'm pretty sure the timing is ok.
The coil outputs are defanatly ok.
New plugs, wires, cap and rotor. (about 6k ago)
I have no idea how to check the ignitors
And i'm gonna pretend that i didn't hear you say anything about a bad apex seal .........i don't want to even consider that problem
*goes into denial*
"the apex seals are fine, yeah....yeah ......they're fine"

I really think that it has something to do with the secondaries. I'm almost positive that they are not opening

But, thanks for all the suggestions!
By the way, i noticed that this was your first post. Are you new to the club??

The T-bar is on the back side ( firewall side ) of the carb... follow the throttle cable down from the firewall to the carb, you will have to find where it connects to the carb. That is the throttle shaft,... connected to that you will find a return spring connected to a pivot. The T-bar also connects to the throttle shaft and should go on the other side of the pivot, if not, you will find it sitting directly below the electric choke unit.

Hope this helps!
