help on the "original" duck bill rear lip spoiler
how do i put on a rear lip spoiler properly?
i have a one piece duck bill (not the exaggerated one) and it came with my 85 gsl-se...all the owner did was drilled some rather nasty holes through the back onto the tabs that are on the wing and glued it with some type of blue silicon....the wing was barely hanging on so i decided to remove it....but now i dont know how to put it on....do i just drill better holes with screws to fasten the wing onto the body? or should i use some kind of glue? any idea what kind? anyone heard of sikaflex? how is it? or am i missing proper hardware? helpful pics appreciated...thank you

From most of the spoilers I have seen (both on 7s and on other cars of that era) most of the spoilers are fiberglass and have studs coming out that are fiber glassed in. I know on the '99 spec spoiler on FDs there are nuts that are 'glassed in and bolts go up into them.
Basically I guess what I am saying is that I dont know exactly how this particular spoiler is made but there are some options on how to do it and if you can basically copy how those are done I would think that your results would be acceptable.
Edit: Also some spoilers are obviously plastic and there are usually nut type inserts that are placed into the mold and then the plastic is shot or blown in so that the nut inserts are essentially molded into the part. You cant really replicate this but fiberglass resin would be a good/proper fix for this type if the inserts would have come out.

As they said post a picture of the underside of the spoiler. The 1 piece spoiler on my FB didn't have much in teh way of mounting tabs and it was pop-riveted and "molded" (with bondo) on the car I got it from. Since i wasn't going to mold it in I attached some hardware to teh bottom to mount it cleanly. No pictures of my install, but if you show us your spoiler it will be easy to explain...
