OH Help an old man attept a rebuild

Never tried anything like this before! I am a 60 year old diamond setter. Still have decent hands and brains........ but i need some help..... i've driven 7's since 1979 but have not done much work at all on them. For some reason i have decided i want to purchase, rebuild and port a 12-a engine. I will have 6 months or so to do this in. My question to you gentlemen is where to start. A list of books, sites, ect would be of great help. Or..... am i insane to even try this???? (Please... no old fart jokes!!!)

There is some pretty good reading material. Good luck with your build

Best spot for learning how to rebuild and port is the Engine Building and Porting section over at NoPistons.com. When you download the manuals, get both the 79 and 85 versions. There are also several different rebuild videos out. Rotary Aviation, Atkins and Kiwi-RE.

Have fun with your project! With your profession, I'm sure you have outstanding attention to detail. You'll have great results. Do a search for Pineapple Racing -- they have some free videos that are very useful.
