Exclamation Help with my new 84 RX-7

hi I am new to this site and i just got a 1984 RX-7 two days ago... i am 16 and already have a 92 corolla thats slightly modded but thats another story. anyways i've wanted to get this car for along time and i finally got it!!! it ran but it needs a few things, i need to rebuild the carb., get a new ignition, and rewire the fuel pump at a minimum. Then it should run after tune up. i have a book and i am fairly good at mechanics but this is OBVIOUSLY different than my 4 banger corolla. its a 1.1 Liter dual rotory engine so i'm basically asking for ANY advice regarding tips, how to do certain things, anything really k thanx

1. DO NOT CRANK THE CAR UP THEN CUT IT RIGHT BACK OFF, IT WILL FLOOD IT
2. Header, mecanical secondaries and removing the rats nests where the 3 biggest power upgrades I did.
3. The search button will become your best friend on this website. any question you ever have, someone has already asked at least a couple of times.
Other then that I hope you love your 7 and welcome to the club.

DO NOT CRANK THE CAR UP THEN CUT IT RIGHT BACK OFF....BECAUSE IT WILL FLOOD!!! If you start the car you need to let it warm up to operating temp... ALWAYS REMEBER THIS!!!!

The rats nest is the maze of rubber and steel vacume lines between on the top of the motor. I say don't remove it. Especially if you ever have to pass a visual inspection for emissions testing. First gen's are starting to get old though they're not exactly rare. I think that we should all try and keep the stock ones stock if we can. Theres plenty of modded 7's out there.

The reason i decided to remove mine was beacuse it seemed to run smoother and it cleaned up the engine bay alot, But i don't have to worry about emissions considering I live in bang your sisterville, AL.
