help..me..please ?

well, the other night i was driving, and it stalled...so i think "no biggie, ill just start it like i usually do.." And...the car gets no power to the engine...at all, or the car itself..i get that fixed by jumping the wires with speaker wire...hey..it works for temporary fixes...it still dont start so i have a friend of mine gimmie a push home...the next day after work, i go out, and notice two huge wires that are not connected to my distributor...i connect them, and the car fires right up...so then all i need is gas...i borrow gas from my boss and start it up, and the car just starts idling like a tank...(shaking and what not..) then today, i get some fresh gas into it, new spark plugs, new rotor, and new distributor cap...thing runs like new...too perfect i guess ? well...i drive it for about 15 minutes...and smoke just starts rolling out from under my dash...the car sputters...and dies...again, nothing in the car is working except the wipers and head lights..but the headlights wont go down.. ?

i work so hard, and i get this....

im begining to dislike these problems...

This is the old classic stupid grounding wires. I fought this battle for 6 months, so hold in there. Dont drive it, and dont turn it on until you find out where that smoke came from! The main grounds for some reason are around the passenger side headlight motor. Clean, Clean Clean! everything. Follow your battery cables, make sure they're not coroded or anything. Make sure your battery terminals are new, just buy new ones, and make sure they're tight. Check all charging terminals and connectors. You might be wise to pull the gauge cluster out, its not hard though 4 screws and its out. You can repair this wiring so dont get discouraged. Keep asking questions on this thread, and I'll help you out. Also remember to disconnect the negative terminal first and keep it disconnected before you try to fix stuff

well, thanks for the reply man...but i think i have gotten it fixed..well running w/o blowing the fuesable links...when i had the problem with the wireing harness i just fixed where i seen the cut and slices and what not...i did not look lower on the wire, but yesterday i did, and all of the wires were fused together, so i sorted them out. And put em all back together. and now it works great, no blowing fuesable links anymore .

hard to expalin, but does anyone have an extra gauge sheild ? i kinda ran mine over...lol...
