Angry HELP High pitched whistle during idle

I seem to be having a high pitched whistle or sqeak at idle speeds emminating from my carbrator, which is a holley RB modded 465cfm. The Air pump has been removed and Its not my single belt running alt, and water.

It started when I was adjustng the carb before it was warm, so it seemed to turn on when my choke flapper opened?

I have to try this experiment again. anyone ever had this happen to them?

It really loud and my ears are still ringing.

Check Your Intake Gaskets. I Had This Happen On My 81 And It Turned Out To Be The Upper Intake Gasket.

Torque of the carb to the intake. I didn't have the whistle, but only because it was so big of a vac leak (won't whistlr with its mouth wide open).

If sufficiently torqued, there may be a flatness issue, so go to a thicker gasket materials or carefully use sealant making sure not to overdo it.

if it is a new setup it may take time for the gaskets to seat. i just rebuilt my carb and over the last day or two i have had to tighten the screws more. if this is a intake leak it would make perfect since on why you cant idle below 2k.. give it a go and let us know

Ok where are the bullets for my gun I need to shoot myself in the head!

I Remember now I was installing my intake and got it on and tightened the two upper outside nuts then went to lunch.

Well I forgot to fully tighten the lower ones so there was a turn or so on them still.

Went away car idles fine 1250 rpm no hesitation.

Thanks I was really not thinking.

You can borrow my ammo, just be sure to leave your car to me before you do it.
