Help!Help!Help!

Dear Fellow Brethren, Please HELP! I am not getting any power to the fuel pump. I have checked all of the fuses, checked the fusible links under the hood, & checked the relays around the distributor they are all HOT! What am I missing? There has to be something or else I should have power right? Please give me some guidance because I am completely lost!

The fuel pump does not come on until you start cranking the engine. That is if your profile is correct and you have a SE.

^that's why^
on the 84 and 85 cars there is a fuel pump relay under the dash to the left of the steering collum (when looking at it on ur back upside down). to test the pump while the engine is off you have to pull the relay and then wire a jumper between two of the connectors. the relay is hooked up to the trailing ignitor so that the fuel pump will only be on while the engine is being cranked or running in order to prevent flooding problems on the -se's.

Search the 1st gen section for "Evil Relay". That should bring up the thread with a picture of the location, and which connectors to jumper.
Pump only runs while the engine is spinning. Losing the trailing ignitor will also shut the pump off. This is not an issue with '83 and older.

or if you want to have some fun, you can hard wire it in like i have done. on the wires from the ignition switch, splice a "hot" wire into the wire that is black w/ white stripe. (its the run position wire) and then run the hot wire to right before the plug for the fuel pump, cut the wires so you have a few inches left, ground the black wire, and rewire the hot wire to the blue wire.

this will make the fuel pump work all the time while the car is in the run position. you might want to put in a switch on the hot wire so that you can turn if off. i dont know how stock your car is, but mine is a 84 se with a holley fuel pump and a carb.

ps. if you do this, make sure to unhook your battery.
