Help!! GSLSE Blowing "Engine" Fuse again

Well I tried posting earlier but obviously it didnt take. Anyway I had just got a 85 GSLSE. It did run before I bought it. It now blows the fuse thats is labelled "Engine". I have disconnected almost all the connections in the engine bay and still a dead short. Tomorrow I go for the ECU area and the coils. Does anyone have any ideas or have experienced this?

Thanks !

I assume you instantly get the short, not intermittant. That's good cause occasional shorts are difficult to find.

First get a wiring diagram, www.iluvmyrx7.com has free ones if you don't. You can then use an ohm meter to find the short. -->>Make sure you do this check without power, I.E. disconnect the battery.<<-- Check for 0 resistance between ground and various connection points (all on the hot side) based upon the wiring diagram. Disconnecting components and rechecking for short can eliminate those components. Eventually you'll be left with just a harness--then it looks like you have a worn wire that is shorting to ground. There are other ways to tackle the problem but this should work for a constant short to ground.

Good luck, Scott

Well I unhooked the ECU and the 3 little black boxes. Right POW the fuse blows so Yes it is a instant short. Now what I did was to hook the test light on the one side of the fuse and the alligator clip on the other. This should not light up the test light if there is no short. But the light is still on and havent found the cause yet.

Thanks Scott for the wiring diagram. I have looked in my Haynes but damn they are hard to follow.
