Help - Fuel leaking from Gas Cap

Pretty self explanatory here, I am having trouble with gas leaking from the gas cap. The gas cap seals well and the car, for the most part runs very well.

From inspection of my manual - is the first step to check the check and cut valve? Is it possible for the Charcoal canister to plug up?

Thanks!

Yea, the check/cut valve or the cannister could be clogged. Disconnect the small vent line off the cannister and see if it stops.

This is an 81 model just FYI, thanks for the reply - the manual is rather unclear as to where the canister is located. Any chance someone can give me a better description than what is in my manual, all I can figure is it's somewhere near the carb.

Its on the right side of the firewall. Round cannister with 2 hoses going to it. One big, one small. Some cannisters are metal, some are plastic.
