help..electrical problems..

help..electrical problems..

ok am going to be as specific as i cant. with what i have and what problems i got. i got a 79 with a the 12a streetport, rb intake, rb header, holley 650, with complete engine rebuilt. my problem the car doenst want to stay running. has compression, so thats out of the list, we got fuel, thats out, the car is on timing, i got spark. here is the thing the car will start but as soon you let go of the key it will die out. like there no voltage to the coils on running position . it did had the points distributor and i did swap it with the electronic one. guys i need your help trying to get the car running for the 14th of october trying to go to union grove.

Did you say "when you let go of the key" ? You mean when you release the key from the Start position and let it spring back into the Run position? If that's the case, try changing out the ignition lock cylinder.

before you do that, do all your dash lights and **** click on when the key is in the "on" (running) position. If that's the case, your cylinder is fine. how are your fusible links?

check iginition swith is good, all fusible links were check with ohmmeter and ther good. i got the car to start but it wont idle. am thinking is a carb problem
